Volvo owners - BEWARE
Please note that the owner and manager of this garage had the opportunity to respond and rectify the problem. Emails were sent, telephone calls were made and even a recorded letter was ignored. All details provided in this email can be supported with factual data such as invoices, email correspondence and telephone records. The fault was a damaged ABS Pump, which East Oxford sent away TWICE to have diagnosed as they thought it was the module (which I think is attached to the pump?) but couldn't find the problem. It cost me over £400 with East Oxford Garage to fix (problem still there), Volvo Sentinel charged me £250 to fix the problem and did it in half a day (East Oxford Garage took two weeks). So, Volvo Owners, beware. They are NOT a Volvo Franchise neither do they have the expertise they state they do. Replacing an exhaust system, I guess they can do but so can KwikFit (quicker than East Oxford Garage too). Half price compared to Volvo After Service. Not a chance. I handed in my car twice to fix a problem. They repaired the wrong part, then claimed nothing was wrong with the car. Still took my money though. Given two opportunities to put it right. Ended up bringing the car to Sentinel Volvo in London, who repaired the car cheaper than East Oxford Garage, and it fixed the problem. I had three independent garages confirming what the problem was (East Oxford Garage couldn't figure out what it was). They were reported to Volvo as they are trading as "Independent Volvo Specialists". To really dupe the poor owner of a Volvo, they even use the Volvo logo as support for their claim. It is cost effective and I used them for other repairs when I lived in Oxfordshire. Have now moved back to London and only used Volvo Franchised After Service agents. DO NOT USE
FIRSTLY, I NEVER USUALLY USE THESE REVIEW SITES SO DON'T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY - THESE PEOPLE PROVIDE SHOCKINGLY POOR SERVICE. I brought my fiesta in for replacement of two rear brake pipes to pass its M.O.T. He did this, along with the replacement of lower suspension arm and patch up a hole in exhaust, for an excessively high figure of £274. He told me that the emission are still too high to get through M.O.T, I asked him to explain and he said "oh its very complicated" (that old chestnut), after explaining and stating itl cost a minimum of £160, I called two other mechanics who laughed when I retold this. I told him no thanks, took it elsewhere and a chap sealed the hole and it passed MOT retest. Days later my brakes deteriorate at an alarming rate, with fluid all over the tyres, I take it back and he gives me an overpriced quote on brake shoes and cylinders, I finally got a quote for the work at 50% of the price elsewhere. I was told by the alternative mechanic that my brakes are in pieces and I had been driving a deathtrap. This mechanic is either highly incompetent or a filthy conman, either way he gives a bad name to his trade and shouldn't be used. go elsewhere, trust me.
