I have always had trouble motivating myself in the gym and usually find myself labouriously plodding from one machine to the other without any real understanding of what I was doing and in a vague hope that, perhaps with enough sweating, I was doing something right. Results were minimal and I soon found myself making excuses as to why I was not a 'gym person'. My gym membership expired and I didn't renew it. I heard about Synergy from a friend and she told me her story was very similar. She resented throwing money away in the gym, where all too often she thought of herself as just a number and what they offered as personalised training was, in effect, a shallow pretense at such. I made an appointment with Matt and I was immediately impressed with his friendly attitude, his detailed knowledge of his subject, his boundless enthusiasm and his modesty-as his experience included elite national sporting teams! In that ONE session he noticed that my running style displaced my weight unevenly and that my tight Achilles tendons were down to improper stretches and this running style. Furthermore, he noticed that my back musculature was biased to one side and suggested this lead to back pain in the morning (which it did!). What made Matt different from the mundane personal trainers I had tried in my gym was his professionalism and his personalised training schedule that put me, my aims and my lifestyle at the centre. He has finally made my goals attainable. I cannot sing his praises high enough! I would recommend Synergy to anyone and any ability.
