• Thai Orchid Disappointing 2nd time round

  Had a great meal here a year or so ago, but went again earlier this year with some visitors, and had a really bad meal. Fantastic mixed starter, which sadly was the only good thing about the meal. I orded a dish with a zero chilli rating as my stomach wasn't up to anything remotely spicy, which arrived as just some dry chicken strips, some dry rice, and a bowl of sauce. I poured sauce stuff over most the meal, then was horrified to find it was the hottest stuff I'd ever tasted!!! I complained to the staff, who took away the hot stuff and replaced it with some sugary sweet non spicy sauce, which was pointless as I'd already covered my food with this other stuff, so it was inedible. No apology, no offer of a replacement dish, and they didn't even knock it off the bill!! Service was rather slow, staff weren't particularly friendly, and I found the dishes were very much overpriced for what they actually were. I'll give it 2 stars as the mixed starter was good, and the decor inside is quirky.
