Wallingford Museum is a colourful and delightfully intimate local history museum, housed on two floors of a medieval oak-beamed building in the heart of Wallingford in Oxfordshire, a Thames-side town founded in the tenth century by Alfred the Great. From the Museum's windows, you can see the remains of the great earthworks of Alfred's planned town. Exhibits include a free audio tour of the town's early history, a Victotian street with walk-in shop, pub, workshop etc, a model of Wallingford Station, displays on the River, a late Roman burial plus special exhibitions and events.
