• Shocking customer relations

  Having tended my own lawn for a number of years with great success I took ill and had to get someone to tend to my lawn. Unfortunately I decided on Greenthumb. After a couple of good applications they told me that it needed scarifying. I agreed as they are "the experts". They done this in January on a soaking wet day and basically ripped my nlawn to shreds. I complained on the day and was told it was in shock and it would come right again. Three months later when they came back I complained again and was told don't worry the growing season is starting and it will be okay. Now 5 months later I am getting sick of excuses and blame on me and have started putting it all in writing. They do not seem to know what to do and while they have admitted they ruined it, it looks like I am going to have to sue them to get it put right.

• No Customer Care

  Initially OK but after a year the March treatment killed off much of the grass and made a mess of the lawn. When I complained I was given all sorts of wild excuses. The lawn mower was blunt (which did not please the lawn mower service guy!) Cut too short (highest setting Cut too long. A third of the lawn, where they had to change the dispenser was OK. They then wanted to charge me £60 to put it right!! Eventually agreed to put different chemicals on to rectify, but then gave it the wrong treatment and made it worse! Had experts to look and they said GreenThumbs excuses were "all waffle". Was told that many people had had trouble with this firm. Would NEVER use them again and would never recommend to anyone. Beware.

• My lawn looks fab!

  I've been using green thumb for just over a year. I initially statred last winter when my lawn was damp and full of moss. Green thumb scarified and aerated it 1st which was a little expensive about £80 in total but after seeing the results well worth it. By the late spring my lawn looked totally unrecognisable, so green and healthy. I am so pleased with the service! If you want a bowling green lawn for £15 a quarter or £5 a month use them!

• Beware Green Thumb!

  A month ago I decided to have an initial trial treatment ( weed-killer & fertiliser) for which I paid £15 having assumed foolishly that this would kill the range of weeds quoted to be present. I was concerned at the time that the treatment was perfunctory and done at speed! Now four weeks later, my lawn's show a lively display of dandelions etc.but otherwise no improvement. My phone complaint was met by a range of unbelievable excuses quoting "reseeding from birds and the wind"despite this being the first flowering of the season. Underhand devious and best avoided!

  I'm sad to say that after a while of using Green Thumb to treat my lawn I have cancelled my account with them. After the last treatment my grass turned brown so I phoned to make a complaint, a chap came out & gave me the most feeble excuse possible basicly that it was my fault, what a supprise. I didn't tell him that I had already had a conversation with my mother in law who informed me that exactly the same had happened to her grass & also that of several friends, all being given the same excuse, their fault. When I told him this he said that it could have been a faulty batch for the area but he didn't think that would be the case as they check everything, so I told him how these other people lived 100 miles away, making his excuses he left rather rapidly. So time to write a letter me thinks. Word of advice don't use them as echoed by quite a few friends of mine who have also cancelled their account.

• Sharks

  I admit their treatment works, but they are masters at overcharging and finding ways for you to always pay more. I would not recommend them for their underhand business practices. You have been warned!

• BEWARE SHARP PRACTICE

  I used them and was reasonably happy until they undertook a lot of expensive work without my permission. I couldn't reason with them and they wheeled in a heavy handed debt collector immediately. I paid up and will never use them again - I urge you to think carefully before dealing with sucha compay

• the value of green thumb

  as a hopeless new gardener i have to say that using the quarterly green thumb service last year mean that my lawn flourished where others turned brown - with a hose pipe banning summer looming I would say this is the only way to geta great lawn. An efficient service froma quality company.
