BANBURY,
At the sanctuary you can enjoy the tranquillity of this part of oxfordshire surrounded by animals living happily. The sanctuary has a 'cuddle corner' where adults and children (with strict adult supervision) may handle baby rabbits, chicks, ducklings, kittens and new born mice and gerbils (when in season). Licensed pet shop: the sanctuary also sell some of their offspring (rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks and fowl).
Any Specialist Products or Services?a unique cuddle and pet area with no time limits. Hold the animal of your choice for as long as you wish!
Adults will be allowed to handle rarer animals such as our Cockatoo, if they wish.
Children will be allowed to hand feed baby lambs when in season.
Brikkiant with our son. he played with the pets with the man and we fed the animals, all in all a great place to go and the animals are rescued so you know the very reasonable amount of money you pay goes to a great cause, for all children to enjoy, all our frinds love it there too
It was Easter Sunday and my wife and I stopped at the Waterfowl Sanctuary. We had remembered from a previous visit that they sold point-of-lay chickens and we had just visited Cotswold Chickens (who I highly recommend for being friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming). We had looked at their available offerings outside and decided to see if they had any books, etc. for sale on chickens in the shop. We were approached by a teenager who asked if she could help and we replied that we were just looking. Within a few minutes, a man asked my wife what she wanted and she said we are just looking to which he replied "we aren't a pet shop and you'll have to pay." My wife explained that we weren't going to go into the sanctuary, but he repeated that we would have to pay even if we were standing in the shop. Must have been a slow day if he felt it necessary to try and extort £4.00 each from us simply for standing in his shop. Strange also that we should be told that they aren't a pet shop when clearly they are registered as such, it's even states that on their web site. WE WON'T EVER RETURN AND WILL ADVISE EVERYONE WE KNOW NOT TO DO SO EITHER. We left and will never return.
3 cars and 11 children off we went, very muddy under foot, as it was February,so all with wellies at the ready, Mabel made us all very welcome and encouraged all the children to hold and pet a baby rabbit or day old chick, some of the children had never held an animal. This is a fantastic place to go if you are wanting your children to understand and learn about the caring of animals. We then looked around the rest of the park there are ponies, donkeys, ducks, geese, gerbils, ostrich,a play area with swings and more.... we chose to do Hotdogs and Hot chocolates over camping stoves this was also exciting for the children and soon warmed them up. I recomend this park its very basic but worth a trip, the kids love it..nearly as much as the grown ups !
